My Final Answer- A tribute to Who Wants to be a Millionare: Play It!
The Living Seas at EPCOT Center
We once had a friend,
upon which we could depend.
He flew away on his Dreammachine,
Figment blew away due to those who were mean.
They were a team,
the dynamic duo they were.
They were the theme,
that you know.
Figment came back about a year later,
Dreamfinder seems to be the waiter.
We all hope for his return,
this we all yearn,
to see our friend,
more than once again.
It started off in Futureport,
As the people would walk,
Then you would board,
And the people would talk,
You flew through the clouds,
And into tommorow,
The future from the fifties became a memory we could borrow,
The Omnimax film seemed larger than life,
In the cars were many, a man and wife,
On you went to the Urban Habitat,
Then the daughter would say, "I'm happy to hear that!",
Mesa Verde had been a dessert once before,
In that dark room, you could barely see the floor,
Next came the communications room,
The fact that video conferencing became possible started to seal Horizons' doom,
Underwater you began to go,
When the ride would end,
Not many would know,
From the classroom underwater,
To the undersea resort,
You kept on moving,
In your Omnimover Transport,
You kept on diving,
To see the industry,
Then up you went,
To Outer Space,
That was a real sight to see,
From the space colony,
To the spinning gravity wheel,
The walls around you,
Seemed strong as steel,
The crystals were grown,
The holographic parties were thrown,
Following this,
You entered the next zone,
From there on in,
Your party was able to decide,
Which future location to which you could ride,
Was it Undersea, Dessert or Space for you?,
This was the decision that was up to you,
You exited the transport with a vision of what could be next,
Even the little chidren knew their future would be complex,
Horizons was closed for a debated reason,
Many fans felt that Disney was committing treason,
The causes were questioned and still are today,
We all want to know why they took Horizons away,
The plans for a new Space themed pavilion were set up,
This plan was just another drop in the cup.
During a sponsership call late at night,
Horizons attempted to make one last flight,
The ride was ready,
The screens were set,
The Disney administration was confident that they would get,
A sponser they wanted,
Surely they did,
But fate turned dangerous,
That night a sinkhole took a bid,
The building was unstable,
The walls could collapse,
The meeting was stopped,
The announcement was made that the walls would be dropped.
The inside was gutted,
The evidence was clear,
Horizons' was no more,
A little later that year,
A new building was started,
The sinkhole was filled,
HP sponsered the pavilion,
Disney was thrilled,
Horizons old spot,
Disney had filled.
Like all of the other rides at
Onto Omnimover cars you would enter.
The beginning seemed too surreal,
As you moved up the staircase,
You knew this ride was going to be a big deal.
Up you went and view you got,
From your cars you saw a lot.
The view of Future World and Spaceship Earth,
After riding this attraction,
The guests would believe that the ticket price was well the worth.
You journey through the Time Showroom started off slowly,
Not only through one time,
Would you go solely.
You enter a cave with two cavemen,
Later on in the ride,
You would see a hen.
One was hot,
And the other had sore feet,
The trot had caused this,
There was nothing that could beat.
Soon, a safer highway was discovered,
The ability to travel on water was uncovered.
From canoes to Viking ships,
This journey through time,
Was really a trip!
As time went on,
We learned to use animals as transportation,
For our future enjoyment,
This was a foundation.
Later on, the wheel got things rolling,
This creation kept things going.
Due to this new freedom,
Empires began to expand,
They began to fight,
And conquer new land.
Then, steam began the next form of energy,
It was later that the boats would use this in synergy.
Then, to the
Along with a bicycling couple you would ride.
Soon after, a horseless carriage would be brought out,
Without something pulling you,
Could you go about.
From there on in,
We saw how it was “Fun to Be Free,”
The sky was the limit,
You could hear people all around screaming “Yippee!”
You would then exit the cars,
And head to the TransCenter,
Through another huge door,
That is how you would enter.
Inside the giant exhibition hall you could see many things,
From a wind tunnel to what else would fly on future’s wings.
There were futuristic power plants and Urban Commuter Cars,
GM and Disney tried to make this pavilion drive far.
When trying to renew a deal between the two corporations,
Disney began a few operations,
To attract the sponsor that they held so dear,
Disney put together a plan that would be loud and clear.
They created a plan that would rekindle EPCOT’s dwindling flame,
And by doing this,
There would be no reason for them to take the blame.
The plans were presented,
The money put down,
The cars were invented.
This new ride would bring people back to this ghost town.
So that year, Horizons stayed open for its last full period,
When World of Motion was closed,
Complaints were put in,
Many a myriad.
Then the pavilion was gutted and the hollowed building was kept,
There, the old ride was put to rest.
After this, Test Track began to form,
Now when we go to Epcot,
We see this as a norm.
As you entered into the preshow theater,
The circlevision-like screen would make the water effect even clearer.
You used to see a small show made of slides and information,
Then the pavilion's sponser pulled out,
The Living Seas had begun to lose its sensation.
After the pre-show,
You would see a educational movie.
From the birth of the Earth to the the creation of "The Deluge,"
Many guests began to think that this film was anything but groovy.
On you went,
Through the open doors.
This was the part where you knew your entrance fee money was well spent.
SeaBase Alpha had welcome you to its pearly gates,
You would enter as the overhead voice continued to narrate.
Enter the Hydrolators you would,
Little did you know that they moved only 2 feet, because that is all that they could.
As you exited, you entered one last queue,
From this point on,
It was a smooth ride thru.
Your SeaCabs were a simple omnimover like the rest,
But the area around you proved to make this ride one of EPCOT's best.
With fish and divers swimming around you and the seas to be seen,
After the first two minutes of this ride, almost everyone was keen- for more.
Finally, your SeaCabs would finish off their journey,
Leaving you in the Observatory.
When you got out of these cabs,
You were able to finish your own story.
You could see Manatees and fish alike,
And learn about pressure, even as a tike!
That was then,
And this is now.
Disney was struggling with keeping Epcot alive,
So they came up with a grand plan.
Disney would insert characters from their hit movies in classic attractions,
Many people were skeptic and many thought it was a scam.
Disney did the unthinkable and redid everyone of its attractions,
Leaving two pavilions left to go.
The problem was...
Disney didn't know,
That classics are not ment to be modified like a normal rollercoaster,
Before you change a ride,
You have to get the most of her.
To make up for its past failed remakes,
Disney had one last plan that could take the cake.
First they shut down three chambers in The Living Seas,
Next, they let guests interact with Crush,
This began to please.
As Disney saw that Nemo was able to revive the dying pavilion,
They decided to bring back the long extinct SeaCabs and put some thrill back in...
Slowly but surely, The Living Seas is changing into Nemo's Living Seas,
Maybe after this,
Disney will finally learn to listen to our pleas.
They must know that the fans know best about what they want,
Disney has fought and they continue to taunt.
With Godzilla sized Figments and door cameos of long gone characters,
They remind us of a place that we used to be able to enjoy as a city of the future,
A place called EPCOT Center.
Kitchen Kabaret was out.
Veggie Veggie, Fruit Fruit career was cut.
Fud Rapper was leading,
Junk Food was reeking.
“Eating right is easy…”
“Choose before you chew…”
They were waiting in the kitchen,
Waiting in the kitchen,
For you.
The pavilion's message was World Peace,
The sponser's payments bought them feasts.
Israel, Greece and more,
Several different countries set the score.
The food was good,
The exhibits were great,
When people checked out Australia,
They made sure there was food on their plate.
We miss the Village and its grace,
Now it sits there,
A waste of space.
Toad is gone,
Pooh is here,
Toad's been pawned,
Please nobody cheer
Our friend is dead but not forgotten,
His shirts hung up, the ones made of cotton,
Toad had a house and a wild ride,
Pooh has a tree and plenty of pride,
Our friend's place stolen from him,
His house bowlin down,
His paintings shattered,
His walls pulled down,
His shirts tattered,
Chris Robbins is happy,
Mr. Hoot is sad,
Most of Toad's fans are really mad,
Disney killed our friend one day,
that day they took our friend away,
as a way to say sorry,
they gave us what was in their eyes a ferrari,
when in fact, he was nothing more than sorry.
We all fear that our dear friend Toad is just dust in the wind,
but its better than being Pooh's giant bowling pin...
You started off in the test chamber of X-S Tech,
From there on in you were given pure heck.
When that alien entered the room,
And Skippy yelled “Gubbagloom!”
The poking of the chair,
And the alien’s breathe in your hair.
Clench’s introduction and his apology,
They were all sentenced to a short life of misery,
All because of a little blue “abomination” named Stitch.
Project Gemini was set to go,
Ready to begin,
Waiting to launch.
With Soarin' coming to Epcot,
An extreme version of Spaceship Earth,
And an unknown Project Blue Sky.
Eisner said yes,
Imagineers said no.
Disney Executives couldn't decide which way to go.
Fans were in disbelief,
Families were confused.
Epcot would be changed,
Disney plans would prove.
When the budget total came in,
Disney was shocked.
This new project,
A new park would block.
The price of a 5th Gate, Gemini would have been.
Eisner said "Scale Down"
Imagineers fit the new budget in.
Soarin' still came,
Spaceship Earth was left alone.
Project Blue Sky was given the bone.
Almost six years later it has been,
Since this horrible project was sent in.
Spaceship Earth's life has been prolonged.
Soarin' has become a hit.
Blue Sky might be dusted off.
Blue Sky might be greenlit.
The only part missing from Gemini, is the unknown but famed, Project Blue Sky.
Could we see Spaceship Earth as a coaster in ten years?
That would fulfill our greatest fears.
With Blue Sky on the backburner and Spaceship Earth barely floating.
Epcot's budget is set to start bloating.
Project Gemini in whole was abolished, but not forgotten.
It could have been worse as we all believe,
Project Gemini could have been the end of Epcot, as we see...
